North Highlands, CA, may not be as widely known for tourist attractions as some other places, but it still offers some enjoyable activities for visitors and locals alike. Here are some fun things to do in and around North Highlands.
Visit the Sacramento Zoo
Located in nearby Land Park (about a 20-minute drive from North Highlands), the Sacramento Zoo offers a variety of animals, educational exhibits, and seasonal events. It’s a great option if you're looking for a family-friendly activity. Winter is the best time of year to visit as the crowds are lighter and the animals are more active.
Explore the American River Parkway
The American River Parkway is just a few miles away, and offers 32 miles of scenic trails along the river for hiking, biking, and birdwatching. You can enjoy a peaceful outdoor escape with beautiful natural surroundings. There are over a dozen access points to the park where you can find places to paint, fish, kayak and more. Annual park passes are available.
Aerospace Museum of California
Just a short drive from North Highlands, this aerospace museum is located on the McClellan Park former military base. It showcases the history of aviation, including exhibits on military aircraft and aviation history. Be sure to ask about the Flight Zone Simulator. The museum is closed on Mondays and most major holidays.
SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity (MOSAC)
Located in nearby Sacramento, the MOSAC is an interactive science and space museum that is fun for all ages. Kids will enjoy hands-on exhibits, while adults can appreciate the educational displays related to space exploration and science. Golf at a Nearby Course
There are several golf courses in the surrounding area.
